Back home

I’m back in good ‘ol Dallas, Texas! I had a great time in Santa Clara, CA – teaching at INSP West. Once again it was a thrill to see the excitement of each class as they got a sneak peak at WorshipHouse.

I got to visit San Francisco for the first time – what a cool city! I went on the Golden Gate Bridge, saw Alcatraz and had the best seafood I’ve had in a long time. There happended to be a church team from Dallas there – so they joined me on the journey. It was so cold down by the water that we each ended up buying a cheesy tourist jacket that has “San Francisco” boldly printed on the front. Sadly, I’ll probably never wear that jacket again, but it sure was better than my short-sleeve shirt at the time.

Internally, we are seeing the site come together and are getting pretty excited. You won’t have to wait too much longer – we promise!

If you haven’t already, download the free background on our homepage – we’re about to change it out for something new. Peace!

Coast to Coast

What a wild week! I just returned from speaking in South Carolina (which was great – I met some really cool people) and leave today to speak at INSP West in Santa Clara, California. I mentioned something in my classes this weekend that seemed to excite some folks, so I thought I’d mention it here, too.

Did you know that on WorshipHouse Media’s new site there will be a section for Independents? That means that you or your church can submit a video, loopable background, picture or sermon title graphic that you did for your church and if we think it’s something that would be good for the whole Church, we’ll put it in our “Independents” section – allowing you to get your work out to the world.

If this is something that excites you, too and you have something to submit, you can email me at or call me at 972-354-1031.

Got to go for now. West Coast, here I come!

I Shaved!

I don’t know how or why (actually, I do know how), but yesterday I decided to shave off my goatee. It’s funny how something so simple can make you feel totally different. My wife was thrilled. My kids kind of looked at me funny. I like it. It’s the new look of the summer.

I’m going to be speaking this weekend at Church Music Oklahoma. I plan on checking out LifeChurch this Sunday (, which is in Oklahoma City. Should be fun. They have 5 campuses (will be 7 this Fall) that all watch a video feed during the message from the main campus. They kind of remind me of Fellowship Church here in Grapevine, TX – that has 4 campuses – three of which watch a video feed for the message.

Yesterday I was watching my kids play (I have a 4 and 1/2 yr. old, 3 yr. old and a 1 yr. old) and caught myself looking at the smile on their faces. Their smile was contagious and made me smile.

I started thinking about how cool a smile really is. I mean think about it: even if you were in a foreign country and didn’t know their language – if you smiled, they would at least think of you as friendly. You hope!

Where does the act of smiling come from? I know – God, but why is it so universal and natural? Ever see a newborn baby smile? Nobody had to teach him or her how to.

Maybe it’s too early (9am) for such thoughts. I don’t know. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the wonderful gift of a smile?

Excited and expectant doesn’t begin to express (Wow – that’s 3 words that start with “ex”) how I feel these days. At the last several conferences that I’ve spoke at I’ve been able to give a little preview of what’s to come. Those in my classes not only experienced my joy and passion about WorshipHouse, but seemed to get pretty pumped themselves.

I am so proud to be a small part of a team that God is going to use to be a help to people and churches worldwide. This week we had another one of our crazy long website meetings where we go over every detail and function of the backend of our website/database. I’ll save you the details, but suffice to say that we are diligently working to bring you guys a wonderful new tool and resource for you and your ministry.

Our passion is to provide the Church with creative media resources in an atmosphere of growth and community. Not only will we be bringing the best in media resources together in one site, but we hope to educate and equip you through reviews, articles, tips and suggestions from various Christian leaders and church media professionals. I could go on and on, but I want to leave some surprises for the launch.

As of last check, we had people download our monthly freebie from over 20 countries! Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with those in London. I know our friend Phil Cooke and his team were on a film shoot in London and were driving less than a block from the explosion at the King’s Cross Underground station. Thank God they were not injured, but as we see on the news, many others were hurt and now over 50 lost their lives. May God be with the friends and family of all that were touched by this tragic event.

For all of you, worldwide – we want to hear from you. Give me a shout! Tell me what God is up to in your life and church. For those of you that were in one of my classes and got the “sneak peek” of what’s coming – tell us your thoughts. This “House Chat” is going to start becoming more and more active and interactive – so dive in!
