Media Resolutions? (and Giveaway)
HELP!
I’m working on a blog post about trying new media and tools in the new year and I’d love your feedback. Are you planning to try anything new in 2012 to stretch what you currently do? If so, what are you planning to try?
(To thank you for your help – five randomly-drawn folks who comment will get a WorshipHouse t-shirt – winner chosen Sunday, January 8, 2012 at midnight).

I’m trying to use buffer app more to schedule tweets. I think it’s helping so far. Getting more engagement at peak times. Also commenting on blogs like this one..to get more exposure on my own.

Well, this might not be what you’re looking for, but in 2012 I am taking a media sabbath from noon Sunday until I get to work on Tuesday.
I need the break…my spirit needs the break. I need time to read, run, and ruminate on life, to stop the noise so that I can hear the still small voice of the Lord, and as a pastor that’s an important thing to do!
So far, so good, but we’re early in this. Here’s my blog thoughts I penned (keyed) about it: http://ponderingpastor.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-christmas-gift-to-myself.html

Our church is planning to make the switch from PC’s and EasyWorship to Mac and ProPresenter. For as long as we have been doing lyric projection, we have always used PC’s and always used either EasyWorship or MediaShout. We had a few significant technical snafus in our worship services last fall, and this led me to lead our team to recognize that we needed a stronger presentation software to carry us to the next level in our worship services. Once ProPresenter 5 releases, we’ll be making the switch. I’m confident this is the right thing for us, but pray for our team because they are a little skeptical about having to learn a new presentation software and (for many of them) a new OS such as Mac OS X Lion.

In the church media area we’re trial testing ProPresenter on the PC soon. Hoping to move out of PowerPoint but we’ll see what the media guy thinks.
For social networking I’m trying Buffer as well, and trying to post at high points. Also trying to do more with just following God’s guidance on what and when to post.
These are a couple of the things we’re doing.

We are thinking of environmental projection to add a little spice to somewhat-of a boring room where we have started our more media rich worship service. We currently use Song Show Plus which is great for our needs and is easy enough for volunteers to run on a Sunday. Happy New Year to all, oh and hey, I need a T-Shirt because its 80 degrees in January here in Florida and all those folks in the north would freeze. Just looking out for ya!

We’re a church of 250-300 and growing. We have a new educational facility and this year we’re working toward the ability to project services and/or events into another portion of the building for overflow. We’re also getting mission loops ready to project on common area video screens – to keep people in the loop with our missionaries and missions activities.
